Aime J. Wichtendahl

Aime J. Wichtendahl holds a B.A. in journalism and political science from Mount Mercy College, graduating in 2005. Following her education, she moved to Hiawatha, Iowa, and began her public service career. Wichtendahl has spent nearly two decades in local governance, having been elected to the Hiawatha City Council in 2015 and re-elected in 2019 and 2023. In 2024, she was elected to the Iowa General Assembly, representing House District 80, and made history as the first transgender person elected to the state legislature.
