U.S.A.
Ashley Moody was born in Plant City, Florida, and graduated from Plant City High School. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from the University of Florida, followed by a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida School of Law and a Master of Laws in international law from Stetson University College of Law. Moody began her career in civil litigation at Holland & Knight before serving as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Florida. She was elected to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida in Hillsborough County and later resigned to run for Florida Attorney General, a position she held from 2018. Moody has also served on the Presidential Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice.
Ashley Moody's political identity is marked by a staunch conservatism that occasionally intersects with unexpected policy positions, such as her opposition to recreational cannabis legalization while also contesting election integrity. Her ideological rigidity is evident in her opposition to the Affordable Care Act and voting rights restoration for felons unless all fees are paid. Moody's rhetorical style often frames issues around protecting regional economic interests, as seen in her lawsuit against federal vaccine mandates for cruise ships. Her approach to social issues, like her petition against an abortion access ballot measure, reveals a calculated effort to influence voter perception.
