William McBride was born in 1945 in Belleville, Illinois, and graduated from the University of Florida in 1967. He served in the Marine Corps from 1968 to 1971, earning a Bronze Star with a Valor device. Following his military service, McBride taught at Officer Candidates School at Marine Corps Base Quantico and later attended the University of Florida Law School. He began his legal career as an assistant to a prominent Florida attorney before joining Holland & Knight law firm, where he eventually became managing partner in 1992. McBride retired from Holland & Knight in 2001 and subsequently partnered with another law firm, while also chairing the board of Hyde Park Capital Partners, LLC.
