U.S.A.
David Smith graduated from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Business Management and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served as a Naval Aviator and accumulated over 4,500 accident-free flight hours. Smith participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom and managed several billion-dollar programs, including his final assignment as Program Manager, Training Systems (PM TRASYS). After retiring from the Marine Corps at the rank of Colonel, he worked in Central Florida’s Simulation & Training industry.
David Smith combines a business-oriented background with a deeply localized approach to policy, advocating for economic growth through job creation in advanced sectors while fiercely defending Florida’s natural resources. His commitment to reducing taxes and regulations contrasts with his support for substantial investments in education and environmental protection, revealing an unexpected alignment of fiscal conservatism with progressive social policies. Smith’s legislative record shows an unexpected convergence with opposing factions on environmental regulations, suggesting a highly calculated approach to protecting regional industrial interests. His strong stance on parental rights and Second Amendment protections juxtaposes with his efforts to support mental health and juvenile justice reform, presenting a multifaceted political identity.
