Dennis Richardson

Dennis Richardson was born in 1949 in Central Point, Oregon, and grew up in Southeast Los Angeles, the son of a carpenter. He earned both his bachelor's and law degrees from Brigham Young University. Richardson served in the United States Army as a helicopter pilot, earning the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry during his deployment. He transitioned to public service, beginning his career in the Oregon House of Representatives and eventually serving as Speaker Pro Tempore and minority whip. Richardson held significant roles in budget and health care policy, including co-chairing the Full Joint Senate–House Ways and Means Committee. He ran for governor and Oregon Secretary of State, winning the latter office in 2016.
