Joseph Bustos was born in 1950 in Charleston and earned a B.A. from Columbia College in 1975. He served as a Lt. Col. in the USA from 1970 to 1995 and later earned an MSA from Central Michigan University in 1991. Bustos has a long history of public service, having served on the Mt. Pleasant Town Council in two separate terms, from 2000 to 2009 and again from 2015 to 2019. He is currently a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 112th District.
