Jovanka Beckles

Jovanka Beckles was born in Panama City, Panama, in 1963, and later immigrated to the United States with her family. She holds a BA in Psychology from Florida A&M University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Beckles began her career in the Bay Area, where she worked in various roles related to counseling, youth education, and mental health. She spent several years in public service, including serving on the Richmond City Council, where she eventually became vice mayor. Beckles has also held a position on the AC Transit Board for Ward 1.
