Kurt Schwab enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1986, participating in significant military operations including the attack on the USS Stark, Operation Just Cause, and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He transitioned to the Air Force Reserves in 1990 and later served in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, accumulating nearly 2,000 flight hours and 300 combat flight hours. Schwab left active duty in 2007 and has since held leadership roles with the USO in Missouri. He founded Veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (VOIEF) in 2009 and spearheaded the creation of VOIEF's mobile kitchen program in 2021.
