Lorenzo Rios was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States at a young age, where he gained early work experience in migrant farm labor. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at 18, serving 23 years in total, including deployments to the Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Rios holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Gonzaga University and a master’s and Ph.D. (ABD) from Arizona State University. He has held leadership roles in academia, including serving as Department Chair at Fresno State University, and has experience in local governance as a board member for organizations focused on strengthening local government. Rios currently serves as CEO of the Clovis Veterans Memorial District.
