He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant and deploying to multiple countries. LaLota has held various leadership roles in local government, including Chief of Staff to Suffolk County Legislature, Commissioner of the Suffolk County Board of Elections, and Chief of Staff to a New York State Senator. He has also served on the Amityville Board of Trustees.
