Roswell Farnham

Roswell Farnham was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1827, and later relocated to Bradford, Connecticut, where he completed his formative education. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1849 and earned a Master of Arts degree there in 1852. Farnham was admitted to the Orange County Bar in 1857 and subsequently held the position of states attorney. His military career during the Civil War saw him rise to the rank of lieutenant colonel, commanding various units within the Union Army. Farnham's professional journey included significant legislative roles, such as serving in the Vermont State Senate and acting as a delegate to the Republican national convention.
