Thomas Rolph, born in San Francisco in 1885, graduated from Humboldt Evening High School in 1903. He founded a building materials sales agency in 1912, demonstrating early entrepreneurial acumen. Rolph later transitioned to public service, serving two terms as a United States representative from California between 1941 and 1945. Despite an unsuccessful bid for reelection in 1944, he returned to his private sector roots in 1956, resuming his career in building materials sales until his death in San Francisco.
