Charles L. Richards graduated from Stanford University's law department and was admitted to the bar in 1901. He began his legal career in Tonopah, Nevada, and served as district attorney for Nye County. Transitioning into public service, Richards became a member of the Nevada Assembly and later chaired the Democratic State committee. He also represented Nevada in the United States Chamber of Commerce. After his political career, Richards resumed his law practice in Reno until his passing in 1953.
