Sandré Swanson, born in 1948 in Oakland, California, holds an associate degree in psychology from Oakland City College and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from San Francisco State University. Swanson began their career in public service as a member of the Oakland Anti-Poverty Board and later managed the advance team for Shirley Chisholm's presidential campaign. They spent nearly three decades in various roles within the public sector, including as district director and senior policy advisor to Congressman Ron Dellums, and chief of staff to Congresswoman Barbara Lee.
